At Sloan Dental, our dentists strive to provide each of our patients with painless and long-lasting solutions to a variety of different dental problems. At the same time, we make it our top priority to help maintain the natural look and feel of our patient’s mouths. The only problem, of course, is that teeth themselves can sometimes be too damaged to repair through simple filling and crowning alone.
Thankfully, if you have areas of missing enamel on your teeth, we can help you protect your surviving teeth and your natural appearance by fitting veneers. In fact, veneers are one of the most frequently requested dental treatments which we offer.
A: Veneers themselves are made up of thin layers or porcelain or similar composite materials, which are applied to tooth surfaces in order to take the place of missing enamel and/or improve the appearance of chipped and crooked teeth. The result is a beautiful, white, full tooth surface, with just as much strength as your original enamel.
A: In most patients, the majority of the tooth remains intact when applying veneers, unlike with crowns and bridges:
At Sloan Dental, we can usually fit patients with veneers in as little as 2-3 appointments. This is because after a mould has been taken of your teeth, all we need to then do is file away a small portion of enamel on individual tooth surfaces, prior to applying our patient’s new veneers themselves. There is absolutely no pain involved and recovery is instant. In fact, after having veneers applied, you can leave our surgery and continue your regular business as usual.
