7 In 10 Brits Are Apprehensive About Going to the Dentist
Regular visits to the dentist are critical for the maintenance of a healthy smile, yet a lot of British people have a dental fear. The prevention of oral healthcare problems is more important that treatment of the problems. A survey by the Oral Health Foundation has indicated that 67 percent of British adults do not fancy making the visit to a dental professional. 33 percent of these people are afraid of the discomfort associated with treatment while 26 percent will worry about the cost of treatment.
People should not be worried about visiting the dentist since there are a few steps that can be undertaken from home.
- Avoid procrastinating and take steps towards better care for your teeth. Many people attempt to improve their oral health just a few days before visiting the dentist. Brush your teeth twice every day for at least two minutes using fluoride toothpaste to prevent oral health problems.
- Eat foods that are friendly to your mouth to prevent enamel erosion and tooth decay. Foods that contain high sugar and high acid content such as fruit juices, fizzy drinks and sweets to protect the teeth and gums. Tooth decay can lead to serious oral health problems whereas weakened tooth enamel may lead to tooth sensitivity.
- Use a fluoride toothpaste that has been clinically proven to protect the teeth and ensure a healthy mouth. The toothpaste prevents bad breath, cavities, enamel erosion, gum problems, plaque build-up on teeth, stains on teeth, tartar build up on teeth, and tooth sensitivity.
