It’s no secret that the Christmas season is most definitely party time. Whether it is get-togethers with friends, or a works do. There are plenty of opportunities to take some awesome Christmas selfies.
However, not everyone feels selfie ready. So, that’s why I have put together my guide to taking the perfect selfie.
- Know your best side
The perfect selfie can come with practice. Rather than simply taking the picture head on, why not try out some different poses instead. You may find that you have a particular good side that you prefer to have your picture taken on.
Knowing this will allow you to work that camera all the more!
- Angle that lens
How many people have you seen holding their phone above them when they take a selfie? There is a reason behind this. By popping the camera above you, your eyes will look bigger, your nose look less piggy and any double chins will be hidden away!
- Be natural
So many people now decide to add filters into their selfies, all with a vain attempt of making themselves look different. Whilst these are great fun, you may find that the natural look is a much better option. Not only does it showcase you as you are, but you can show off your new lipstick, hair colour or that winning smile with ease.
- Get in the best light
Normal, non-selfie photos rely on good lighting. The same is true for selfies. Both poorly lit rooms and bright lighting can affect the end result. The very best selfies are taken in natural light. Try to have the sun in front of you, slightly above eye level. This will make the most of your features, softening them and avoiding shadows.
- Think about the background
Whilst you are the main focus of the picture, the world around is going to feature too. That means that you should be aware of anything that can come up in the background. This includes people or simply where you are.
If you are taking the selfie because you are in front of an interesting landmark, then try to make sure that it is in the picture too. Otherwise you could have a thoroughly wasted selfie.
